The Future?

Not a chance, this man is the present.

Photo is from the Orlando Sentinel, and here is an article on the decision from O’Leary meeting with the press the day after the NC State game.

Activities Planned for NC State Game

In addition to playing an ACC team there are a few other reasons to head out to Bright House stadium this weekend, including:

  • Former UCF football player Big Mike from American Idol fame will be singing the national anthem
  • There will be a pre-game ceremony to remember the fallen heroes of 9/11 flags will be handed out on entry and UCF will be honoring a brave NYC firefighter who was on-duty that day.

So not that the football game wasn’t enough, there are now a few additional reasons why BHNS will be the place to be Saturday night in Orlando!

See the UCF release for more info on game day activities.

Tailgate Guide has been updated

This guide is still pretty popular from search engines so I added current information regarding tailgate times and updated some general information that was out of date. Also added the MOAT to my recommendations!

Hope this is helpful and if you see any corrections, please let me know!

A Couple Videos from 2010 Season Opener

Didn’t take too much, but you’ll notice I upgraded to a HD camera this year. These are just two videos from Memory Mall, one featuring Shanna McLaughlin posing with “the” Buddha UCF tailgate cooler.

Updated Google Calendar for UCF Football

One of my more popular posts from search engines still remains my 2006 post for adding UCF Football schedule to your Google Calendar. I’ve been using Yahoo Sports as the ICS source all these years but just before this season that stopped working so I’ve updated the original post with a new link that works for those interested.

Pictures from Opening Day

This was a day of great change for our group as we decided to no longer deal with the stress and headaches of Memory Mall this year. So for the first time on campus we setup shop elsewhere and overall lead to a very enjoyable relaxing experience! Ironically Shanna McLaughlin (of Axis locker room shoot fame) ended up setting up shop for pics and autographs right across from our old spot and in our place was a Gator tent. Oh well.

I felt very good about offense and QB play, a great sign because we’ve been very slow to start out for awhile now. Defensively I think we have some work ahead of us on the line and in the secondary before NC State comes to town this week. That’s for another day, for now there here are some pictures from around campus and some crowd shots in the stadium. HD videos from around campus to follow shortly.

And for the pic of the day, I present Shanna McLaughlin with Budda’s new UCF cooler!

Game On

Hope to see everyone out at Bright House Stadium this Saturday to start what I believe will be one of the best UCF football seasons ever. In honor of the new UKNIGHT campaign, check out this video of past UCF legends to get you pumped!

Tailgate, Ticket, and Donation Policies for 2010

For anyone that may have missed it, earlier this week UCF announced it’s policies for the 2010 season.

http://ucfathletics.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/020910aaa.html

The good: Decreased donation requirements and and season ticket prices hopefully will mean increased support in the stands in this tough economic environment. Great job UCF!

The bad: UCF has not changed it’s policy of tailgates not opening until noon on games at 6pm or later just as last year for the C & D lots, as well as Memory Mall. However if you donate $1,000 or more and do not park in those lots then are you deemed responsible enough to tailgate starting at 8am for all games. Makes great sense.

The ugly: Chad Binette, A UCF spokesman in this Orlando Sentinel article stated that part of the reason for not allowing Memory Mall tailgating to start was because they didn’t want to make students have to get up at 8am to get a spot on the Mall. Speaks for itself folks.

Unfortunately it appears this will likely be the end of my group’s tailgates in the Memory Mall as it is no longer worth the extra hassle involved. The good news is we’ll save some money from donations and won’t have to deal with the tailgate tent lines! :)

Lots of pics posted for the 2009 season

I’ve posted pictures from the rest of the football season this morning. This includes the following games: Miami, Texas (Austin road trip), Houston, and Tulane. It also includes the UMass basketball game and some pics from Spirit Splash. There were some fun times in there with a fantastic tailgate scene for Miami, a road trip to Austin that was a blast, a huge victory in front of a packed Arena vs UMass, and a BIG WIN over Houston…our first over a Top 25 team ever! It’s great being a Knight fan in 2009!

We’ve definitely closed out the season strong, winning 5 of 6 games after the tough Miami loss. The defensive line is without a doubt the best in C-USA (regardless of what some ESPN announcer says) and our young secondary has grown with each game finding a way to get some timely turnovers. Offensively we are getting good consistent play from our QB, offensive line has really gelled together, the receivers are stepping up and making both the easy and the hard catches, and finally we’ve found a great 1-2 punch with Harvey and Davis. Definitely been fun to watch over the last half of the season, you can’t help but feel pretty good going into the bowl game regardless of who we play.

Tickets are already purchased for St Pete Bowl (41 to be exact!) and now we await our opponent and plan out invasion to the west to make it Knight Knation for the weekend of Dec 19th!

Apologies for the lack of posts

Yes I’m still around. :)

Originally I was working on a large tailgate related post and wanted to keep focus on that for awhile so I didn’t do some of my usual posts, but then it just became a time issue. I’m hoping to use the holidays next week to catch up on posting pics from all the football and basketball games I’ve collected.

It’s a great time to be a KNIGHT right now in both football and basketball!
