UCF gets HUGE victory at USM

This was a big game in every way possible. UCF stays in the hunt for the East division crown while also getting one game closer to bowl eligibility. Here are some less obvious reasons why this game was big.
- First back to back wins over teams with a winning record in 5 years
- Largest margin of victory on the road in 5 years
- First victory on ESPN
- Kevin Smith sets school record in career rushing yards
Great game by both the offense and defense. Special props have to go to Kyle, Kevin, the UCF secondary, and the receiving corp for making some unbelievable catches!
We hosted a backyardgate and viewing party with about 25 friends & family for the game. We had a blast all day, especially when we bounced to Zombie Nation after all the TDs! This is the first game that many of us missed in person all year, so it was sad not to be in the stands but it worked out fine in the end.
Didn’t we beat Marshall 23-22 on a Wednesday night game televised nationally on ESPN last year? I seem to remember getting flagged for unsportsmanlike when Torres ripped off his helmet after kicking the game-winning touchdown, with Matthew Mcconaughey watching from the sidelines (promoting ‘We are Marshall’).

and that should be ‘game-winning field goal’. I really shouldn’t try to use my brain this early.

We need to watch out for UTEP. Their 4-4 record is deceiving: they’ve been in every game they’ve played, some of them against pretty tough squads.
Yeah that Marshall game was on ESPN 2. I’m pretty certain this was the first win on ESPN.
Agree that we need to watch out for UTEP, they will be very tough. But let’s not jump past our next game vs Marshall. They’ve been playing people pretty tough the past few weeks and finally got a victory this past week.
Our boys need to take this game seriously as Marshall is in a great spoiler position. As long as we play our game and keep from turning over the ball we’ll be in good shape though.
