More on the success of the Liberty Bowl

Looks like the Liberty Bowl was not only a success in the stands and on TV but also in the city of Memphis! Check out these five great quotes from a Commercial Appeal article in Memphis. This is great for UCF!

“But now, there’s more evidence — TV ratings and ribs — that the game,
which drew a crowd of 63,816, ranks as one of the most successful in
the 49-year history of the bowl.”

“And it certainly helped us that Orlando (home of UCF) is a big TV market.”

“Ehrhart also said that the influx of fans from both schools,
particularly from Mississippi State, generated $23 million into the
economy.”

“John Vergos, who runs The Rendezvous, said the day before the game and
then game day were the busiest days in the 60-year history of the
barbecue restaurant. Vergos said that on game day, the restaurant
served an all-time high 3,979 customers.”

“Vergos said he was surprised at the number of UCF fans that made the trip.”
