Houston Trip Pics and Comments

We're back from our Houston/San Antonio trip. For those that didn't know the wife and I did a flying road trip for the UCF vs Houston game, adding in a nice 3 night stay in San Antonio before the game.
Here are some bullet thoughts on the trip and a link to the pictures.
San Antonio
- San Antonio Riverwalk is just beautiful- a great place to spend a few days
- You turn on a water facet and margarita comes out, undisputed SA drink of choice
- Eating on the Riverwalk just doesn't get old, but the Market Square does
- The Dallas Mavericks checked into our hotel, they're not on the short side
The Game
- Houston has a nice campus, nice stadium, $5 parking, and beer in stadium!
- They have a couple pavilions outside of campus used for tailgating- AWESOME
- Atmosphere outside of stadium was lacking, but I've seen much much worse
- No opinion of UH fans as no one said anything to us all day, but they all wear red
- Did a rough count of UCF fans and counted around 100 a little before game
- As for the game, only comment is felt GREAT going into 2nd half <sigh>
Houston
- Per some advice hit Goode Company BBQ, didn't love it- but was fun experience
- Met a couple of cool Rice students while in line and talked some C-USA football
- Saw a free concert in Hermann Park from the Houston Symphony, very good
- We spent entirely too much time at Half Price Books in Rice Village- we're dorks
- Went to (and closed down) Rice Village for some (many) beers- lots of cool bars
- Favorite bar was The Ginger Man- 67 beers on tap. Had fun with the locals
- Visited the Galleria, it's a huge mall that has an ice skating rink- pretty unique
- Very very jealous of the world class pro sports facilities in Houston- just unreal
