First Half Knights

In looking at our game notes something really sticks out on our three wins this year. We all know the difference between our first and second half performances has been fairly large. However when you look at the numbers it really becomes night and day. Look at this scoring breakdown:

UCF is outscoring opponents 97 – 3 in the first half of their three wins. Yes you heard me right. UCF 97 – Opponents 3.

The good news is that we have a great history of jumping out on our opponents and that sets the tone for the game. Unfortunately we’re struggling with how to deal with those big halftime leads, getting outscored 53 – 21 in the second half of our three wins. Hopefully the halftime leads can continue with improved much second half play. The Texas game at least showed us that we are capable of having a good second half in a close game as we outscored the Longhorns 22 – 15 in the final 30 minutes of play.

My final analysis of the situation breaks down as follows:

In October we need to play 60 minutes of football. :)
