Pictures and Videos from Boston College

I’m not going to talk about the game because it’s happened so long ago so instead I’ll focus on the other parts of the five day trip up I made with some friends and family.

First off Boston is a great town! It’s full of history, it’s clean and friendly, has a great transportation system and the weather was perfect the weekend we were there! Touring historic sites in the day and hitting great bars at night made for a fun combo. On the touristy side we did the Sam Adam Brewery Tour, Duck Tour, Freedom Trail, JFK Museum, and Fenway Park Tour. We also hit a Red Sox game on Monday night versus the Indians in which they lost, but I’m a Cubs fans anyway so just the experience at Fenway was what mattered and it was incredible. Also I got in a Tuesday morning jog around Boston Common and Beacon Hill which was a great ending to the trip.

Some of the bars we hit were Jillians, Boston Beer Works, the “fire marshall” bar, The Sunset Grill & Tap, Cask ‘n Flagon, The Bleacher Bar, and some spot near Kenmore stop. Lastly I can’t talk about Boston without raving about Mike’s pastries, that was the best cannoli I’ve ever had and it wasn’t even close. Amazing.

This next bit of quick hits from trip you wouldn’t understand if you weren’t with us so feel free to jump ahead to the pics and videos.

  • The big lock hotel
  • Your name is….Jesse
  • Subways and politics don’t go together
  • Our “big and beautiful” waitress at Roggies, just like their salads
  • Buddha hill roll = instant classic
  • The great search around the stadium, we all found gold
  • Thanks for waiting for me G, I’ll always remember that.
  • The longest subway ride in history, cut your wrist properly
  • Cookies at 6pm = sham
  • The $69 tip at Sunset, remember it’s for the kids
  • The best view in Boston is in the Bleacher Bar, men only though
  • Our new Tampa friends who came to defense of my Sox game beer
  • 1 cab, 20 McNuggets, 4 quarter pounders, 2 large fries, and a cannoli.

UTEP is over, time to focus on SMU

I’ve gone through my anger period from the UTEP loss. After listening to O’Leary’s radio show I’m ready to play some football. It’s time to take our frustrations of the last 3 weeks out against SMU this Saturday at Bright House Networks Stadium. I have faith in the black & gold.

BE LOUD!
BE PROUD!
GO KNIGHTS!

That is all for now.

UCF vs SMU 2008 Tailgate

Here is round 1 of the plan for the SMU tailgate on October 4th, things will remain
subject to change so check back again. Please leave your responses
within this post so everyone can read them. There are some new (silly) tailgate setup rules for Memory Mall that start this game. I’m going to contact GKC this week to find out more, it may change when I arrive to start setting up.

TIMELINE
9:00am: Tailgate setup crew arrives (may change based on conversation with GKC)
10:00am: Tailgate start time for the masses
12:00pm: Cajun Lunchtime
2:30pm: Breakdown
3:30pm: Kickoff

FOOD
Based on the popularity of our Cajun tailgate last year we’ve brought it back this year. Based on our team’s performance the timing couldn’t be any better because I know many are looking forward to this tailgate big-time. We’ve worked out some details Saturday night, but still have some more things to figure out. Here’s what it looks like now:

Jason: Red Beans & Rice (from Tom’s recipe last year)
Jen: Gumbo
Natalie: Gumbo and Shrimp
Jean: Hot Dogs for the kids and anti-Cajun eaters

So some ideas for others would be jambalaya, chicken creole, corn bread, sausages, etc. However, bring what you want and don’t be afraid to make something new for the first time. And it doesn’t have to be 100% Cajun influenced either. Let’s have fun with this!

DRINKS
For drinks either bring your own or let us
know that you would like to donate and what you would like and someone
with a parking pass and a cooler can pick it up for you.

RESPONSE
So please respond in the comment field below with the following info:

1) Head count you are responding for
2) Approx time you plan to arrive at tailgate and are you eating with us?
3) What food you will be bringing (and drink needs)

Can the Knights stop the bleeding?
It doesn’t take a football expert to tell you that it hasn’t been a glorious start for the Knights in 2008…

One sloppy win against a 1-AA team and two losses to major BCS programs. In all honesty, the Knights need to get things figured out now or it could place UCF out of bowl contention by November. This weekend marks the start of conference play, and needless to say I am a little worried about our offense being able to get it done on the field. UCF is on the road to play the Miners of Texas-El Paso, and to we all should be a little worried…read on to find out why.

So I was interviewed en route to Boston

And I didn’t think I’d ever find it but here it is…unfortunately my prediction was off a bit. And no I didn’t get a free ticket, my lame attempt at humor.

Pics and comments from Boston will be up soon.

Not Ready to Speak about BC Game

I’m still in Boston having a good time until Tuesday. The good thing about being a veteran UCF road travel fan is that I’ve learned how to not let losing ruin the entire trip. Otherwise I’d be wasting too much money, so the fun continues from Boston for now.

Pics and thoughts late in the week. All I’ll say now is I LOVE OUR DEFENSE.

Picking up the pieces…
UCF is back at the game this week travelling to Massachusetts to take on the Eagles of Boston College. UCF has a great opportunity to beat a very respectable team this weekend on the road.

Need Help with Fandomonium Contest

Over the weekend I was contacted by someone who works at a site called FanDome.com who let me know about a contest they are starting a video contest called Fandomonium. This is a new contest so they are looking for videos which shows how you are a crazy fan for your favorite college football team.

I went ahead and submitted a video I took of the Zombie Nation bounce from the USF game. If you have a second and can help me please check out the video and give it a thumbs up! Winning video gets a free Nintendo Wii.

Vote on my video Zombie Nation

Also add a video yourself if you have one, I promise if you win I’ll only ask for the Wii one weekend a month.

UCF getting a vote in AP Top 25

I don’t mention because its a first or anything, because its not by far. I mention it because we didn’t have a vote the week before and all we did was beat the crap out of the bye week on Saturday.

Pics and Videos from USF Game

Well it was a tough loss. Lots of plays have been replayed in my mind almost constantly since the loss last Saturday. I thought this was finally going to be it, but I suppose it wasn’t meant to be losing by inches in overtime 31-24. However I have a VERY positive outlook for this team the rest of the year starting with our next game @ Boston College in two weeks. Very glad that I’m making the trip up to Boston for this as I’m confident we’ll be bringing back a victory. I believe in this team! Now back to the USF gameday for pictures, videos, and thoughts… [Read more →]
