Interesting Forecast Site for Basketball

Here is a very interesting site which forecasts all NCAA basketball teams, including our very own UCF Knights. At the time of posting the forecast for UCF basketball is to end the season with a 18 – 12 record and an RPI of 112. I gotta say that sounds pretty darn close to what I expect this year. I may give us the benefit of the doubt though and go with a 19 – 11 record.

Good video of Tulsa game excitment

This is not my video, but someone called freakiak uploaded this to YouTube and thought it did a good job of showing the excitement in the building during the 3rd overtime. I think this is after Jermaine hit his second 3 pointer, but I’m not positive. Great stuff…great atmosphere!

Videos & Quick Thoughts on Tulsa BB Game

What an unbelievable game and atmosphere on Saturday for the Tulsa basketball game. If someone told me 5 years ago that UCF would beat a team like Tulsa in front of over 7,000 screaming fans at home I would have told them they were crazy. What great progress this program has made, simply amazing… [Read more →]

Incredible Basketball Game, UCF Wins!

Over 7,000 fans on hand and UCF wins over Tulsa in the 3rd OT. More on game later, including some videos- but I did post some good crowd shot pics so wanted to get that out there. Helps for those that may be out of town and couldn’t go…

Huge game Saturday versus Tulsa- BE THERE!

If you are a UCF fan, even if you are only a football fan, you need to be at the new UCF Arena this Saturday night! UCF basketball plays their first conference home game in the new arena against a great opponent in Tulsa. Add to that the football team will be on hand to be honored at halftime for winning the C-USA championship. Add to that the first 5,000 fans will receive the sweet championship poster shown below for free. Then add to that after the game the national champion cheerleaders will be performing their 2008 competition routine. It’s the makings of a GREAT KNIGHT!

No excuses Knight fans, let’s fill that arena up!

Joe Burnett decides to stay with UCF

The Orlando Sentinel confirmed that All Hail Joe will be back! I think Joe Burnett made not only a decision that is great for UCF next year, but it’s also a decision that will benefit him greatly. I think he can really help his NFL stock by staying another year at UCF and improving his stock! Now we’ll have a secondary that is 100% seniors…next year should be fun! Welcome back Joe!

On the bad side there are some rumors that defensive coordinator John Skladany is going to be leaving UCF to take the same job over at Houston. Definitely would be an interesting move if that happens because I don’t think anyone can even argue that being the DC at Houston is better than being the DC at UCF. My guess is this is either a result of John wanting to get back towards his Big 12 roots or a personality conflict with George O’Leary. Either way it will be a big blow as our defense was vastly improved this year so he will be missed.

Great article on Kevin changing his mind

I’m glad someone stepped up and said something about the way in which Pat Clark from WESH sports handled this Kevin Smith story. I love Pat for all his coverage of UCF, but I when I saw his newscast calling Kevin disingenuous I think he went way to far. Click here to read Peter Kerasotis’ take on it, he is a writer for the Florida Today that’s been giving UCF some great love lately.

Here are a few videos from Memphis

Nothing really crazy, just some quick vids showing the scene from the parade and inside BB Kings. Then of course one showing the annoying cowbell up close and personal. Probably only valuable to those that weren’t in Memphis.

My travel report & pics from Liberty Bowl

It’s taken awhile but here is my full travel report from Memphis. I have been sick all weekend and doing nothing but sitting on my laptop, so it’s longer than expected but hopefully it’s somewhat entertaining. I’ll tell you what was entertaining for sure- the city Memphis! This is a city with lots of great places to eat, good culture, and fun options for nightlife. I’d have no problem with coming back as many times as possible, I definitely don’t think it would ever get boring. So here is the day by day breakdown to go along with 200 pictures!

Kevin changes his mind, enters NFL draft

In a shocking development our very own Kevin Smith has changed his mind and will now enter the NFL draft. This has been confirmed by members of the UCF Athletics Administration. I’m happy for Kevin and want what is best for him, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I am completely shocked and a bit saddened. I wish he would have not had the conference announcing his decision to stay if he wasn’t 100% sure. However this is a big decision so I can’t blame him for changing his mind. It doesn’t change how much I appreciate what he’s done for this school.

I just wish I knew the Liberty Bowl would be the last time I got to see him as a Knight. I would have savored it a bit more, whatever that means. Best of luck Kevin, we will be rooting for you in the NFL!

Here is the report from the Orlando Sentinel.

Note: There is also a report that Joe Burnett may leave early as well, which to me is just craziness. I love Joe, but I can’t see how leaving after this year would be the best thing for him. Hopefully he decides to come back and improve his game.
