I finally got this piece off my DVR and on to my laptop so I could post on YouTube. This is one of my favorite ESPN clips ever for UCF as Scott Van Pelt from takes 30 seconds to apologize to Kevin for him being neglected all year.

Smith, who averages 188.3 yards per game, is 180 yards behind Sanders’ record, with one game, a bowl game, yet to play. Conceivably, he could become college football’s all-time, single-season rushing champion.
How do you not vote that number one?
Again, I’ve heard people say that if he played for a BCS conference, he’d be a shoe-in. But, really, what’s the difference? This season, Smith was the only runner to gain more than 100 yards against Texas. He got 149, which was the first 100-yard game against the Longhorn defense since Oct. 14 of last year, when Adrian Peterson had 109.

He did not get invited to the ceremony this weekend in NYC, they only invited four contenders this time. It’s shameful if you ask me, now I really hope he breaks Barry Sanders record! On the good side, he’s getting a lot of national love now including some great ESPN time. Here is a live interview he did for the ESPN show College Football Live
Today is the day that we will find out if the national media will give Kevin Smith the recognition he deserves by voting him into the Top 5 in the Heisman, which would give him that coveted trip to New York for the ceremony. I really want this for Kevin and will extremely upset if he doesn’t make it.
However, regardless I strongly encourage you to read this wonderful story from the Miami Herald this past weekend that tells the story of Kevin’s family as he grew up in Miami. It’s easy to see why Kevin is such a man of character off the field, he’s Mom did a fantastic job raising him! I wish nothing but the best for the Smith family!

Being 13 out of 32 bowl games is not bad at all. Especially when you look closer and realize that we are the highest ranked bowl to not include a Top 25 team or a non-BCS team outside of Hawaii. It’s just an a silly opinion ranking, but still pretty cool!
Here is a partial clip (thanks to ucfwoot) of ESPN discussing the Liberty Bowl during their BCS Bowl show. They spent much more time on UCF than Miss St who hails from the SEC. Also the clip didn’t even show everything, they kept talking about UCF past where this ended.
