Needless to say…
There is still some blood on our noses from the thrashing USF gave us… [Read more →]

Kyle Isreal is named starter vs Tulsa

It appeared on Sunday that we might see a change in the QB position, however according to the press conference today Kyle remains our starter. It will be interesting to see if the 2 player rotation sticks or whether we see 100% Kyle. The big thing to me is I feel the way we were rotating the QBs was possibly causing both of them to lose confidence. Hopefully we can get some confidence back at this important position.

Regardless of who plays I strongly believe that Knight fans need to support whoever is out there. No booing and no yell someone else’s name. That helps no one. Root for who is on the field, this isn’t the NFL.

Here is the full press conference

Here’s a positive article out of Tampa

It’s not really sports related, but the St Pete Times about how UCF is setting the standard for student life in the state of Florida with all the new facilities. It’s a great read, and really makes me wish I was back in college right now, well almost.

UCF finds its amenities are academic

So take THAT USF! ;)

Ouch…that hurt

That’s about what I felt like this past Saturday by about 1:30pm. That game pretty much left me speechless. I could go on, but I’d rather leave the negativity to other fans and the local media. Instead I’ll just say that I still have high hopes for the season as there are still six games left and a lot left to play for. As bad as we played in the past 6 quarters, I can remember how well we played the first two games against two BCS schools. The toughest part of our schedule is behind us (although the next 2 games will be extremely hard) so hopefully the team that played those first two games comes out for the rest of the season. if that happens we can still go bowling and maybe even win the conference. Keep the faith!!!

The key is the players cannot give up on this season after taking a loss like we did against USF. To help ensure that doesn’t happen as a fan you need to be in Bright House this Saturday vs Tulsa. Having the players run out into a half empty stadium will not help.

GO KNIGHTS!

PS- I’ll post pics and comments from our trip later this week, we had a great overall weekend in Tampa.

Let’s make Lot 8 a Knight Lot in Tampa

I called up the USF ticket office and spoke with Paul. I confirmed that Lot 8 is open to general public and cost is $10. A lot of Knight fans were looking to park in Lot 6 like we did in 2005, however that is now a donor only lot.

Let’s turn Lot 8 BLACK & GOLD at 8am!

Here is a map from the St Pete Times showing which lots are open vs donor only:

Great National Pub for Kevin Smith

Here is a nice article on Kevin Smith in the USA Today, doesn’t get much better than that!

Central Florida’s Smith is off and running in 2007

Lots of great articles on UCF vs USF

There are a ton, but I wanted to point out a few that really stick out to me.

Orl Sentinel: Opportunity Comes Knocking for the Knights
This article by Bianchi basically says how it’s time for the Knights to win if they want to put weight to the rivalry. Hard to argue with that…

Atlanta Journal Constitution: Make that Florida’s Big 5
This Atlanta article talks about how it’s now the Big 5 with the additions of USF & UCF, and how this rivalry game now gets national attention.

Orl Sentinel: USF fans easy to get riled up when it comes to UCF
This is hilarious article by David Whitley who showed up on the USF campus all decked out in UCF gear to see what reaction he would get from USF students. In addition to the article you’ve got to see the pictures as well. Plus here is a great excerpt:

“Back then, it was a just a pasture where kids who couldn’t get into Florida or Florida State drove around looking for parking spaces until
the administration just handed them a degree.

Now it’s added a football team.”

Yeah there’s no rivalry here USF fans…

CBSSportsline.com Preview of UCF vs USF

Here’s a quick preview of the big UCF game this weekend in Tampa. Nothing too special but I point it out for two reasons. First it shows a great head to head statistical comparison of team and individual statistics. Secondly if you look in the bottom right corner you will see that at least one expert knows what will happen on Saturday. Sportsline Producer Darin Darst picked UCF, while the other three mistakenly took USF.

ESPN Non-BCS Midseason Report

There is a ton of UCF love in this midseason report for non-BCS conferences by ESPN, published today. Here are a few excerpts, please slick the link below to see more…

Midseason MVP (all non-BCS players)

For the second straight year, a non-BCS player leads the nation in rushing as Central Florida’s Kevin Smith tops the chart at 172.0 yards a game. Smith might not reach Garrett Wolfe’s total from last year, but he has UCF in position for a title push in wide-open Conference USA. The 6 foot, 1-inch, 211-pound Smith opened…

Bowl Bound (for C-USA)

UCF remains a good bet to win the league championship, and Tulsa should reach the postseason behind veteran quarterback Paul Smith. East Carolina needs a few more
