Whew! October is finally over…
And UCF survived with only 2 losses. Simply amazing isn’t it? Things are looking a lot brighter these days…

And for some basketball news

Rivals.com (now owned by Yahoo) has ranked C-USA the 7th best conference in basketball which is a huge jump from last year. We leaped over A10, Colonial, Missouri Valley, MWC, etc. Great stuff, here’s the article.

On the bad side, however there are reports that Tony Davis has been suspended indefinitely from game competition. This is a big blow to the team, how big will depend on how long indefinite means. The only good news from the report on Kyle Hightower’s Orlando Sentinel blog says that it isn’t for legal or academic reasons.

UCF finishes October with 2-2 record

On the drive up to the ECU game back on October 5th my uncle and I had a talk about how we’d we happy to come out of October with a 2-2 record, ecstatic if we could pull a 3-1, and dreamland would be to go perfect. We took an interesting path to get here, but we ended up 2-2 and just like we said we are happy! And for the record if I could change one of those losses to wins, I’d pick ECU so that we can control our own destiny to the championship game.

This was a tough tough month, and I don’t think any previous O’Leary team could have pulled out 2 victories.

Not bad at all…and with the final 2 games being wins it gives us momentum that hopefully we can carry through the end of the season!

GO KNIGHTS!

UCF gets HUGE victory at USM

This was a big game in every way possible. UCF stays in the hunt for the East division crown while also getting one game closer to bowl eligibility. Here are some less obvious reasons why this game was big.

  • First back to back wins over teams with a winning record in 5 years
  • Largest margin of victory on the road in 5 years
  • First victory on ESPN
  • Kevin Smith sets school record in career rushing yards

Great game by both the offense and defense. Special props have to go to Kyle, Kevin, the UCF secondary, and the receiving corp for making some unbelievable catches!

We hosted a backyardgate and viewing party with about 25 friends & family for the game. We had a blast all day, especially when we bounced to Zombie Nation after all the TDs! This is the first game that many of us missed in person all year, so it was sad not to be in the stands but it worked out fine in the end.

What a rollercoaster, baby…
By far, UCF played its finest game this season last weekend. Everything
and everyone was clicking. Israel was hot. Smith was hot. Joachim was
hot. The defense was hot. Seriously, who wasn’t hot? The only answer I
can come up with is the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. UCF deserves major kudos
for winning that game because the team effectively shutdown the nation’s
second deadliest offensive attack with confidence….

Videos, Pictures, and Thoughts from Tulsa Game

What a great game by the Knights. As I said in my other posting, I think this could qualify as the best team we’ve beaten in the George O’Leary era depending on how Tulsa’s season shakes out. Very proud of the Knights, they showed a lot of character after the rough game last week against USF. I’m proud to say I didn’t jump off the bandwagon and lose faith, I said we still had a lot of season left and this game shows it. So here is my report… [Read more →]

Absolutely Huge Win over Tulsa

I’ll be posting pictures and of course a video of students bouncing to Zombie Nation later today.

Just wanted to get it out there how proud I am of the team. To me this goes down as the best team we’ve beat in the George O’Leary era, although admittedly we’ll have to wait until the end of the season to see how things shake out. But make no mistake that victory was HUGE.

We are the first team from the C-USA East Division to beat Tulsa in 9 tries!

We limited the nations 2nd best offense, which came in averaging 573 yards and 39 points to just 379 yards and 23 points!

Maybe most importantly we won the turnover batter 4 – 0, a credit to both our defense and offense. A total team effort!

Beat Tulsa

Fan Guideline for Saturday:

Go to KnightWalk at 1:30pm, help energize players

Cheer on ALL Knight players

Make Noise, LOTS OF NOISE

Bounce, like you’ve never bounced

It’s time…

USF & Tampa Weekend Report

I’m not going to even talk about the game. I’ve already moved on, it’s time to play Tulsa. However, I did want to give my report from the weekend because we had a great time overall. Regardless of what happens on the field I truly hope this series continues, if anything just because its great to have a road game so close!

So here’s my report on everything from the hotel to the places we ate, to of course the tailgate. If you don’t care about that stuff, then don’t read on…

UCF vs Tulsa is SOLD OUT!

To come off of two losses (one of them being a big one against USF) and still have our second ever SELL OUT shows that the city of Orlando is still behind our KNIGHTS! There is nothing like a game on campus, plus the tailgating is second to none.

Here’s the quick posting on OrlandoSentinel.com announcing the sell out for Saturday’s game!
