Pictures and Thoughts from Memphis Game

Wow, that was one heck of a first half performance and overall game. Last time I can remember such a one sided half in our favor has to be way back in 2000 with Akron when we joined the MAC at they stomped on our logo. Great job by the Knights on both offense and defense. Offense scored on all six of their first half possessions while the defense held Memphis to only 53 first half yards. Domination by section the team and section 132 once again!

In addition I had a blast at our tailgate this week. We had a great spot, it wasn’t near as hot as last week, we had some tasty food, and enjoyed the company of friends and family. It’s what tailgating is all about, well that and the fans we can now use thanks to the power UCF provides us at Memory Mall!

Let’s sellout our only kNIGHT game of the year this week vs ULL. Game is Saturday 9/29 at 6pm. Be there and bring your friends, this team is a lot of fun to watch!

UCF vs Memphis Videos

Will post pics tomorrow and some thoughts (here they are), for now here are a couple of quick videos I took from tailgate and game.

Looks like we have ourselves a football team folks. It’s time for a sell out next Saturday night, then a couple thousand Knight fans at ECU, followed by 15,000 Knight fans at USF. Team is winning, it’s our turn again.

Kevin Smith in the NY Post

Kevin is starting to get some well deserved national attention including a nice little article in Friday’s NY Post! See below!

Lunch with George Starts This Friday

After taking a week off before the Texas game, Lunch with George is back. New location and sponsor this year as they will occur in the brand new recruiting lounge with Firehouse Sub catering for the first 200 in attendance. A little something to help satisfy a diehards appetite before the main course on Saturday. Lunch is always on Fridays at noon prior to a home game, oh and O’Leary prefers that you don’t come late.

Official Release on Lunch with George

According to the Sentinel 40,000 expected

The coach is calling for a sellout Saturday and looking for our true fans to shine:

“I think this Memphis game will be a telltale game for our fan base,” O’Leary said. “Are they with us and really with us, or are they just there for the first dance? That’s how I look at it. And I’ll be very disappointed if we don’t have a full house because that’s why we put the building up.”

I say let’s sell this sucker out. I know we can…

Kevin Smith now listed as a Heisman Hopeful on CBS

See this link to CBS Sportsline’s Heisman Hopefuls, he’s under the listing Others to Watch. It’s worth noting that he’s one of only 3 non-BCS candidates listed with Colt Brennan from Hawaii and Ian Johnson from Boise being the others.

Honestly it’s hard to believe he’s got much chance this year, however I think it’s very important for him to start getting talk about in those terms this year to setup next year. If he is a national name going into his senior year they he might be able to make some real noise in 2008. Way to go Kevin!

Sports Illustrated: Kevin Smith is top RB in FL

UCF moved up to 56 in their Power Rankings and here is what they had to say about our boy Kevin Smith:

The best college running back in Florida doesn’t play for the Gators. Or the Seminoles. Or the Hurricanes. UCF’s Kevin Smith is the nation’s No. 1 rusher after two games, averaging 188.0 yards — 10 more per contest than Heisman Watch frontrunner Darren McFadden of Arkansas. Smith hasn’t been padding his stats against I-AA cupcakes, either: He ran for 217 yards against NC State and then 149 against Texas on Saturday. Had the Knights actually pulled off an upset of UT (they lost 35-32), Smith wouldn’t be stuck in non-BCS anonymity.

Opening Day at Bright House Multimedia

This was just a phenomenal day as stated in my gameday report earlier. As such there were many people taking quick video clips of their experiences before and during the game. I took a pretty good amount myself. What I wanted to do is compile many of those videos all together in one spot so fans can easily relive the day months or even years from now.

Here are the videos!

We Have a Home, My Gameday Report

What a grand day for all Knight fans. This day will be one that I and I know all other Knight fans will always remember.

I’ve given my top 10 moments of the day and broken down the good, the bad, and the ugly. Also I took a ton of pictures and quick videos, including the tailgate scene around campus starting at 7am, the opening of Bright House Stadium, and of course the game.

What a day to be a KNIGHT

Words can’t express what this day meant. Arriving on campus at dawn was something else. The tailgating was even BETTER than expected, what a scene on Memory Mall. And wow, what a game…sure no one is really happy with a loss but I just can’t help but be so proud of what the team did today. We have a GREAT team, it’s going to be a GREAT year. Bright House is a GREAT stadium.

I need some recovery time, but should have a ton of pics and videos posted on Sunday.

I love UCF. Thank you Dr. John Hitt and everyone else that made this possible.
